The "Mystery Bill" Panic
You open your mail and see a water bill that is triple the normal amount. You check the sinks. Dry. You check the toilets. Silent.
That water is going somewhere.
Hidden leaks are stressful because you can’t see them, but you know they are causing damage. Every hour you wait allows water to rot wood, soak drywall, and grow mold behind your walls.
You don’t need a handyman with a sledgehammer guessing where the pipe is. You need a water leak detection company with the right technology.
At On Tap Plumbing, we use acoustic listening devices, thermal imaging, and moisture sensors to locate the leak with pinpoint accuracy. We treat your home like a patient. We diagnose the problem before we operate.
Our Leak Detection Services
We handle everything from pinhole leaks in the ceiling to major breaks underground.
- Water Leak Detection (Walls & Ceilings)
We trace the line to find the exact point of failure. Once found, we handle the plumbing leak detection and repair in the same visit, opening only the drywall necessary to reach the pipe.
- Slab Leak Detection
If you feel a warm spot on your floor or hear water running when no taps are on, you might have a leak under your concrete foundation. We use sensitive microphones to “listen” through the concrete and locate the break.
- Gas Leak Detection
A gas leak is an immediate emergency. If you smell rotten eggs, call us. We use electronic sniffers to locate the leak and pressure test your system to verify it is safe before turning the gas back on.
- Pool Leak Detection (Plumbing Lines)
A pool losing water faster than evaporation often has an issue in the underground plumbing to the pump. We pressure test these lines to find cracks or breaks in the circulation system.
- Yard Line Leaks
A soggy spot in the grass usually means your main service line has cracked. We trace the line and perform the excavation and repair with minimal disruption to your landscaping.
Repairing the Leak
Finding it is only step one. You need a leak detection repair expert to fix it.
Our trucks are “Warehouses on Wheels.” Once we locate the issue, we have the copper, PEX, and fittings on board to fix it immediately. We don’t just point at the wet spot and leave. We solve the problem.
Repair vs. Repipe: If we find a single pinhole leak, we fix it. But if we find that your whole system is corroded (common with old copper or polybutylene), we will give you an honest recommendation on leak detection repair versus replacing the old pipes to prevent future floods.
On Tap Maintenance Plan (Coming Soon)
Prevent Problems Before They Start. We are currently finalizing a comprehensive preventative maintenance program designed to give Moore County homeowners total peace of mind. Instead of waiting for a breakdown, our plan will help you extend the life of your plumbing system.
Special Offers and Discounts
Unexpected water damage is expensive. We help where we can. We offer $25 Off Plumbing Repair. We also extend a 10% discount to military members, teachers, and first responders.
Financing Options
If a slab leak requires jackhammering and major repairs, the cost can be a shock. We offer flexible financing options through Housecall Pro. You can stop the damage now and pay for the work over time.
Certifications and Awards
We don’t just say we are experts. We have the credentials.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How do you find a leak inside a wall?
We use thermal cameras to see temperature differences caused by moisture, and acoustic equipment to hear the “hiss” of escaping water.
Do you repair the drywall after fixing the pipe?
We focus on the plumbing. We cut the smallest access hole possible and can refer you to excellent local drywall pros to finish the surface.
What is a leak detection pump?
This is a tool we use to pressurize a system (like a sewer or water line) with air or water to see if it holds pressure. If the gauge drops, we know there is a leak.
Does homeowners insurance cover this?
Often, insurance covers the water damage (drying out the floor), but not the plumbing repair itself. Check your specific policy.
How much does leak detection cost?
We provide a flat-rate price for the diagnostic visit. If you hire us to do the repair, we often credit a portion of that fee toward the job.
